The interest in Chicken Coops is among the North -Americans in a more affordable way to consume eggs.
There are more people looking for chicken coopes and purchases with retailists frequently, according to recent reports and search trends.
Research by Australian -based real estate company Eden Emerald Buutters found that the “Easy DIY chicken plans” searches in Pinterest fired 212% in the United States during the first three months of 2025.
The searches for “garden chicken plans” during this time in Pinterest increased by 81%, while “Chicken Coop Run” and “Chicken Coop Décor” also increased by 163%and 108%, according to research.
Josh Roth, Agent of Chief Buyer Eden Emerald, spoke with Fox News Digital about the growing trend.
“As the study suggests, we can expect chickens to appear in the gardens of many North -Americans,” he said.
A spokesman for tractor Supply Co. He confirmed to Fox News Digital The Upick in chicken sales and chicks.
“The tractor supply is the country’s largest retailer in the country,” the spokesman said. “We have constantly sold more than 10 million chicks each year and we hope that this number will increase this year.”
“In addition, the number of poultry buyers in our stores has increased more than 50% over the past five years.”
Kate Murphy, a caring for animals in the city park of Hoyt Farm in Long Island, New York, shared advice for the North -Americans interested in raising their own chickens.
Having fresh eggs in the backyard avoids the need to pay the prices of swollen eggs. It also offers nutritious eggs without added steroids, Murphy told Fox News Digital.
In addition, it can encourage the whole family to participate in a rewarding outdoor activity.
But the animal care expert over twenty years said that there are “many factors” to consider before making the change.
“Possessing any animal is a lot of work, but chickens are a huge responsibility,” he said.
Murphy pushed people to consider their ability to compromise, as chickens can live up to ten years or more if they were properly taken care of.
“You must keep in mind that your feather friends can be for a while,” he said.
“If you are like most of the North -Americans and you want to breed chickens for fresh eggs, the chickens can put eggs for a maximum of two to three years and then enter the retirement, which they definitely deserve, because the egg laying is brutal to the body of the chicken.”
Murphy said chickens “need love” once finished by putting eggs.
“The most common call I have on the farm is someone who seeks to return home their chickens,” he revealed.
“Either they want to give me their retired chickens after serving their purpose, or they thought that hatching eggs would be fun … and now they have several strong roosters in their homes.”
Only chickens put eggs, not chickens, but there is no way to say the genus of an egg or even a chick until several weeks, Murphy said.
“If you really want chickens for egg production for your home, I recommend you to do your research and find a reputable gardener breeder, someone specializing in egg laying breeds and can provide you with healthy and happy chickens that have been sexual as chickens.”
Murphy also commissioned the owners that they made sure that the chickens they buy are an egg laying breed, as not all chickens put the eggs the same.
But perhaps the greatest commitment is financial, according to Murphy, who said that avian veterinarians are not “cheap”.
“Avian veterinarians are a specialty, so they can cost a beautiful penny when needed, especially in the event of an emergency,” he said.
Chicken feeding also reaches a price, as birds require a balanced diet to keep “healthy and productive”.
Roth agreed that costs related to the parenting of chickens can be added, such as maintaining the Coop clean and the reform of the space to preserve its appearance.
“If you are ready, once you have installed the chicken chicken, you must keep -up to date with the care of the wood to maintain a polished appearance and check if there is damage, such as humidity, to prevent rot,” he said.
For those with free range chickens, Murphy warned that they could be taken and recommended setting up a predator proof.
An enclosure with a covered top and closes will also protect your herd from the Bird Flu exposure, which has reached the highest record throughout the country this year.
Murphy emphasized the importance of ensuring that it is legal to have a chicken coop where you live.
“You have to make the effort,” he said.
“How to have any animal, chickens require a lot of care. A special person is needed to take care of chickens.”
